The geotechnical study determines the nature of the land used for the building project. It includes a series of activities such as drilling to a depth relevant for the future construction (as determined by the stability engineer), laboratory tests and their interpretation, as well as a summary of the key data presented in a report that is also verified by a certified party. Essentially, the “stability” of the terrain is determined during this phase – the two ends of the spectrum would be a sandy terrain and a stone / rock terrain.
