The DV house came to life following an iterative process, amid which new aspects were added during each stage.
As with any other project, our starting point was related to the future homeowners and their family dynamic.
The house is designed for a family with two children. The owners are passionate about contemporary architecture, concerned with quality and details, and open to dialogue. They agreed to the challenge of building a passive house.
We knew from the very beginning why they had chosen this particular location to build their “home”.
Their dream was for their home to be a house on the ground.
The concept was defined by the open-closed duality.
On one hand, the house opens towards the surrounding nature through ample windows and, on the other hand, on the interior one can find the closed center, expressed by the case that intersects the simple, archetypal volume.
The house is not overly compartmentalized and on the ground floor, one can find the day area, with the living room and the fireplace, the dining area, the kitchen, the mechanical room, and one bedroom. The first floor includes the children’s rooms and the walkway that houses the bookcase and a study area, both with a view over the living room. The spaces are designed so that the viewer always faces the exterior and the gardens. For example, a large window is placed on the first floor in front of the staircase, and the walkway that also serves as a bookcase is accompanied by a horizontal window.
